Water saving.

Water saving options can be as simple as watching what goes down your sink and making sure you don't have any leaking taps etc. However, in order to make sure you are saving the most when it comes to water consumption there are a few things to take into consideration.

The average daily water consumption per person is on average 160 litres. This may seem like a lot of water, but did you know that:

  • Each flush of your toilet uses approximately 12 litres
  • Each load in the washing machine uses approximately 70 litres
  • Hand washing dishes requires approximately 80 litres
  • Standard taps discharge approximately 16 litres of water per minute
  • Showers use up to 25 litres per minute

Simple routines like these outlined already amount to approximately 193 litres per day. This number is different to the above as it is based on all fixtures being compliant with the Water Efficiency Labeling and Standards (WELS) scheme, which was introduced in february 2005. We recommend that in order to save water and money in the long term, you update your fixtures to newer water saving options. Simply by installing water saving fixtures we can save you, on average, 95 litres per day, which would drop your consumption to as little as 100 litres per day.

And the savings don't stop here. Installing rainwater tanks will mean you can remove both your toilet and washing machine water usage out of the equation. By installing a rainwater tank, with a rain-to-main pump, we can connect this to your toilet and washing machine.
